Vacation Day 3

Get comfy.  We took a lot of pictures on day 3 of our vacation.

One of the dorms at the Citadel.

The Summerall Guard, an elite group that marches creating their own rhythm-no band.  The routine has been passed down for generations without ever being writting down.

Tessa was so excited to be at the Citadel.

Between activities we walked to our car to get jackets.  We were caught in a downpour and took shelter under a doorway.  We were stuck there at least 20 minutes before the rain let up and they started parade.  This cadet made a run for it in the middle of the storm.  He was still smiling though.

The marching bulldogs complete with bagpipes.  Still trying to figure out at what point in ones life one takes up bagpipe playing.  Pretty sure this isn't an instrument in most high school marching bands.

Jimmy gave Oliver a birds eye view when the rain let up a little.

The graduating class of 2011 marching off the field for the last time.  Parades are done most Fridays during the school year.  Sarah only managed to march one other previous to this one.

Silly Aunt Sarah.

Part of the uniform involves a sword.  Oliver was a little intimdated at first, but finally mustered up the guts to hold it for a picture.  These are their mean faces.

Natalie even tried on the shako.

Then Oliver tried it out.

Grandma and Grandpa with teh proud graduate.

The whole clan minus Uncle Thomas who had to work and Aunt Rachel who had to attend her sisters graduation the same day in Ohio.  We sure missed you.

The girls.

Uncle Kyle, the chef, made us some frogmore stew for dinner-shrimp, crab legs, sausage, potatoes, sweet corn, and green beans.  Yum!  The kids opted for hotdogs with Aunt Sarah.

It was also Grandpa's birthday.  We made him the famous birthday Jell-o cake.  We didn't have any candles so Grandpa just had to pretend.  Oh well, he forgot to make a wish anyway.
