The End of Summer

Mid-week last week we decided to get in one last quick summer vacation get-away before school started.  We packed up Grandma and Grandpa's trailer and headed down the road to Harrison Lake.

 

 

Natalie helped crank the feet down to stabilize our home away from home while Tessa stood in as foreman and Dad made sure the engineering plans were followed to a T.  He put down the rest of the feet with the drill.

 

Natalie got to work crafting even before the camper was move-in ready.  She forgot here paper to tape her bracelet to so we improvised with a clothes pin and one of her books which she neve leaves home without.

 

Cecelia was happy to hole up in the stroller to avoid any heavy lifting.  Tessa found her blanket and entertained her with peek-a-boo and then a tent.

 

Of course we brought marshmallows and roasted them up for s'mores.  We even tried them with peanut butter.  Yum!

 

The broken thumb didn't hamper this guy's fun.  He managed to cover himself in dirt almost imediately upon arrival at the campground.  Too bad they don't make dirt colored wrap for little boys or at least they didn't have any at Meijer on sale.

 

This cheeseball enjoyed her s'more.

 

 

Dad took care of the cooking.

 

While Mom worked on Saturday, everyone else enjoyed some craft time.  Natalie made this crazy horse visor.  Oliver and Tessa opted to make turtle with craft foam and buttons.  They also enjoyed donuts for breakfast, a craft show, and a car/tractor/motorcycle show.  Mom missed out.

 

At some point C felt like she was missing out on the bike riding and demanded to try herself.  She entertained herself for awhile pushing the trike around.

 

Since his run in with the driveway, Oliver was banned from his two-wheeler.  He was allowed to ride the balance bike or the trike around though.

 

Sunurday involved a nice hike around the lake or in Cecelia's case a nap in the stroller.

 

Everyone made the three mile trek around on foot, except the napping baby.

 

And Dad even made a second loop to run with Mom after work.

Oliver was so excited that he had saved Mom the last peanut butter chocolate cookie for her to eat after work.  He even opened the box for her.  Unfortunately Mom needs to work on the speed of her hand to mouth routine as someone else got in on the action.

 

That was one good cookie!
