The original vacation plan had us heading home Tuesday morning, but along the way we picked up a travel Indiana magazine and started reading about all the fun we could have in Columbus, IN, a short drive from Aunt Jenni's. So we packed a lunch and loaded up the grocery getters to head even further south.
On the way we spotted this Oliver truck. Oliver was so impressed he could read.
Columbus is known for it's many sculptures around town. This one is ofter referred to as macaroni and chesse. The kids were not impressed. They also were not impressed when we had to stop to see the "exploded" engine in the lobby of the Cummins building.

Tessa was our tour guide and planned our route carefully.

Our second stop, The Commons. They had a great indoor play structure. Free entertainment. We are always up for some of that.
They even had space for the little crowd. Yes those are teeth in my mouth. Check 'em out.

The we headed across the street to Kids Commons, the not-so-free children's museum. Oliver and Natalie shared the top bunk in this mini-camper.
The best part of this museum was the giant toilet you could get flushed down. It was part of a house that you could check out the guts of. There were even pretend bugs and mice in the walls between plexiglass.
Then we visited the Columbus, IN tourist trap next door. It's an old fashioned ice cream parlor/ soda fountain. There was some neat woodwork and the ice cream was pretty good.

The Cummins building also had a couple of race cars, but by that time everyone was done and wanted to know why we were in an office building looking at cars.
On the way back to Carmel we stopped at the outlet mall. What were we thinking with 6 kids in tow? They were excellent sports and we even managed to make few purchases, but not before the goof broke out again.
