Can you tell Mom's been off for five days? All that fun must come to an end. She's back to work tomorrow.
But today we headed to our favorite local living history farm for a morning of education and fun. Of course we had to walk on the curb on our way.
We tried our hand at mortise and tenon-style joints at the woodworking shop after first visiting Erie's workshop to learn how he rigged his Mom's washer to agitate so he could work at the same time.
Tessa tried out some post and beam construction.
We had to have a rest along the path before visiting the early 1800's exhibit about covered wagons and the corduroy road and then Natives and Newcomers.
After a long journey in a wagon sitting on flour sacks we learned this is how we might have spent the night.
Everyone tried out the yoke.
We learned that each bucket, when filled with water, weighed 12 lbs.
We even put Madalyn to work.
C was not impressed.
Can you spot the frog we found next to the grist mill?
Grandpa, we found a new camper for you.
After her catnap, C enjoyed some water.
After a picnic lunch we headed out of the village toward the campground to try out the new playground.
Oliver gave the slides two thumbs up.
Even a sixth grader enjoyed this park.
And as per Murphies law, all the laundry was done and someone had an accident. It was definately a good trip to Sauder's.
After a quick wardrobe change for 2/5 of our party, someone got a little wet while enjoying her water bottle, we stopped at Homestead for a snack.
Then things got a little goofy.
Tessa was the resident baby feeder for the evening.
Yum...green beans and rice cereal.
Then off to T-ball. Apparently it was a long walk.
Oliver practiced his crocodile mouths with his buddy Kole.
Up to bat.
Running for home.
